Morning Poetry

Posted by: Ajapa on: May 22, 2009

When everything goes right
and its hard to imagine that
any imaginable thing might
go wrong – we hurt ourselves.
From self inflicted pain come
a series of morning poetry,
fed by rage, self hate and spite
towards no one but one’s self.
A state of mixed emotion:
self invited – pity, humility,
lack of passion and animation -
an eternal longing for serenity.
Days built with hypocrisy [...]

Joyous body

They tell me,
“you’re not pretty.”
They say I have:
heavy arms,
hips too wide, skin too dark,
hollow eyes.
But I know – all lies.
They tell me, “chubby arms!”
I say:
They hold a baby,
encircle a lover, reach out,
lift a load – however heavy.
They say,
“hips to wide- unbecoming”
True they’re wide!
need to be!
to create space
for the head of an unborn,
mimic the rise of [...]

Reasons why she lacks ingenuity and became mediocre

Posted by: Ajapa on: April 17, 2009

She was six when she read Oliver Twist and nine when she read David Copperfield. How she envied their impoverished, malnourished deprived childhoods!! She envied the poverty driven adventures of Jean Valjean of Les Miserables and the pitiable yet powerful romance of the poor in O Henry’s Gift of the Magi. That’s why her heart [...]

Wild forces yesterday

Posted by: Ajapa on: March 22, 2009

March 19 2009 Yesterday Evening
Last night the wild wolfish feminine force grumbled and roared. She flashed those electric glances and I told her I understood. I listened to her soul rumbling within her, distressed… and I understood how hard it was for her just to shed a tear. She had been left numb since the [...]

To Mr. Best

Posted by: Ajapa on: March 18, 2009

My dear Mr Best,
I’m utterly tired of working
but I don’t seem to get enough of writing.
And though I know you’ve done me wrong
I sit here and try to write you a song.
You see sir, poetry is not my thing
yet I wish desperately to shout and sing
about your name being Mr. Best
but you being worse off [...]

Fiction

He sits silently by the window as the dawn breaks into a golden morning in the plains; scratching a few words of very little importance to the world, on a parched yellow paper. He pulls a line and a draws a circle and lifts the tip of his old bitten old dot pen and stares. [...]

Holi is year was wonderful. I used to hate it. My father was grumpy as usual. Can’t blame him. If I had experienced the true Holi of the Hindi speaking UP which he describes as a festival that starts a month after the actual holi and includes a week of holi with flowers, I’d think [...]

The Greek Tragedy

“There is something remarkable about Eddie Carbone; his ability to follow his instincts. Natural law however has a way of making “tragic heroes” out of those who go against it” When we did A view from the Bridge, Jyoti and I could always sympathize with Eddie. We understood the way humans make follies that lead [...]

Time and again

Posted by: Ajapa on: January 29, 2009

There are certain times that compel me to write. The times when I’m angry or disappointed, the times when I’m gushing with joy and the times I’m numb and I write to understand my situation. This is one of those times when I’m numb. I’m blocking out thoughts deliberately. After writing for sometime I will be able [...]

Writer’s block

I tried to write two posts .. one on sociology and the other a ghost story and failed miserably at both. I haven’t it seems been able to master the english language to my desire, haven’t gained enough expertise  to manipulate it to say what I mean. I wanted to say that sociology is relatable, [...]
